Landcare ACT calls on NatureFix

Working alongside Landcare ACT, NatureFix delivered a 28-day online nature connection program introducing individuals to the health benefits of nature through daily connections with the outdoors. Based on the latest empirical evidence, this engaging program was delivered conveniently online via a web platform with integrated mobile app features.

Working with over 60 registered participants, NatureFix enjoyed presenting to the group as part of weekly zoom sessions covering topics such as the science of nature connection, the role on nature connection to increase environmental stewardship behaviours and the optimal type of nature to maximise health benefits. An important attribute of course delivery was respectfully listening to stories from First Nations on the importance of connection to Country and its powerful healing benefits.

Stories and guided audio routines from First Nations were an integral component to the 28-day program

“The beauty of this country that we all live on, is that this land is not just 200 years old, its timeliness, it’s a creation of the dreamtime. It’s full of stories, full of memory. Under our concrete structures we have 10,000s of years of campfires… and people are now wanting to learn more and are thirsty to connect to this ancient history. So now, more than ever is a beautiful time to come together. Share the stories. To sit and listen. Be open and unite and collectively celebrate.”

Brett Groves, Wiradjuri Artist & Creator (Bilingara)

The online course included a series of daily videos that introduced the day’s topic with a brief description of the researched benefits. Individuals were then invited to follow guided nature connection routines between 8-10 minutes a day. The guided routines were designed to be enjoyed across all types of natural spaces - at home, at work or on commute and included a selection of virtual (video & soundscapes) experiences.

“Fantastic content. The short segments were easy to fit into a busy day. I appreciated the comprehensive nature of the routines and in particular the science underpinning the benefits. It allowed me to enjoy some solo time focusing on myself and nature.”
