NatureFix launches in South Africa

Located in the small village surrounded by the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park, we have co-created two Wellness Trails with the Nature’s Valley Trust (NVT) that are designed to stimulate residents' and visitors' appreciation of this special place, alongside the restorative effects on mood, energy and focus that characterise NatureFix trails.  Each Wellness Trail consists of four stations with activities that guide participants through the beautiful diverse ecosystems on offer within Nature’s Valley.

One trail begins in a small park with coastal Afrotemperate forest, moves through a ‘fynbos’ reserve and then finishes at the beach. The other trail begins on the Groot River estuary, moves through a small botanical park and finishes on the coastal dune at another beach entrance.  These Trails can be done independently or linked together as a longer Wellness Walk. There is also the option to combine these Wellness Trails with the Nature’s Valley Tree Identification Route to make it a circular route that includes opportunities to learn about the wonderful trees in the area.

“We are excited about this collaboration” said Dr. Matthew Zylstra, our Research Scientist based in South Africa. “This is a beautifully tranquil region to  be able to showcase NatureFix and an area synonymous with the feeling of ‘being able to get away from it all’.  We also hope it bolsters the important conservation work that NVT does by deepening people’s connection with this special place."

The Wellness Trails in Nature’s Valley will be ready and available for the influx of holiday visitors that flock to the valley over the busy summer holiday period.
