Step into Serenity: Eurobodalla’s New Nature Wellness Walk

We are thrilled to share that the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden has officially launched their Nature Wellness Walk. More than 70 Friends of the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden (ERBG), staff, volunteers, and community members gathered to celebrate the opening of the Garden’s new walk. Guests included Councillor Sharon Winslade and senior Council staff, who joined the Friends’ group for a shared lunch and the launch of this exciting new addition to the Garden.

The walk was made possible thanks to funding from the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), contributions from the Friends of ERBG, and the invaluable in-kind support of Garden staff and volunteers. Local Elder Aunty Trish Ellis played a vital role in shaping the walk, which includes a Welcome to Country, creation and healing stories, and acknowledgement of history, inviting reflection and deeper connection to place.

We are excited to celebrate the launch of the Nature Wellness Walk as offering a simple yet powerful way to experience the healing and restorative benefits of spending quality time in nature.

Research shows that connecting with nature can increase:

  • Mental resilience and the ability to cope with life's challenges

  • A sense of purpose, meaning, and belonging

  • Feelings of joy, calm, and happiness

  • Care, compassion, and connection to others, community and the natural world

Across other locations, Nature Wellness Walks are already improving wellbeing through structured, evidence-based programs, including clinically trialled and award-winning nature prescription initiatives. Guided by local healthcare professionals, participants move through each station at their own pace, using simple activities that encourage them to slow down, reflect, and reconnect. By making the health benefits of nature accessible to everyone, these walks serve as valuable community health asset that support mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing.

Why not try for yourself?! We invite you to get along and see why the Wellness Walk is more than a path through the Garden, it’s a pathway to wellbeing, community, and care for Country. Please enjoy…
